Meet Dr. Abron
Armin Abron, DDS, MS, PA
Dr. Abron is a specialist in Periodontics and Implantology. His practice specializes in conservative treatment of gum disease, including specialized interests in soft tissue reconstructive plastic surgery to aesthetically enhance the smile and dental implants that can replace single or multiple missing teeth. He uses the latest technology and science to regenerate bone in the jaws, where bone loss was caused by infection from gum disease, loss of teeth, or injury. This includes sinus bone grafting, where many patients lack sufficient bone thickness in the upper posterior jaw in order to place implants. He also diagnoses and treats oral pathology. Dr. Abron’s main interests include implant and advanced bone reconstruction, as well as soft-tissue and esthetic surgery.
Dr. Abron earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (D.D.S.) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002. Dr. Abron then went on to complete a 3-year surgical residency in Periodontics at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in New York, where he also obtained his Masters in Periodontics. This advanced training certified him to practice as a specialist in Periodontics and Implantology. In addition, during his residency at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, he practiced general dentistry in his spare time.
Dr. Abron is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontology in the School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a faculty member he teaches residents in the implant clinic.
Throughout his career he has remained active in organized dentistry and has served organized dentistry in many leadership positions, including as President of the National Student Research Group, as well as a speaker at national and international venues. He is an active member of the following professional organizations:

- Academy of Osseointegration
- Southern Academy of Periodontics
- North Carolina Dental Society
At Columbia University Dr. Abron performed numerous periodontal surgeries and placed over 250 implants. He was thus honored as the recipient of the very prestigious Mel Morris Award for Clinical and Academic Excellence in Periodontics. In addition, he was involved in many research projects related to Implants and Periodontology and has been published in national and international journals, including the European Journal of Oral Science, Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and Journal of Clinical Periodontology. This has enabled him to present his work at the national and international level. He has also been recognized as one of America’s Top Dentists in 2007 by Consumer’s Research Council of America.
During his free time, he enjoys traveling and playing tennis and racquetball.
